Sony to release major update to its Playstation 4, allow players to get in, out of games by using PS button

TOKYO: A Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation, Sony is all set to launch a significant update to its PlayStation 4 video game console introducing several features including the ability to suspend and quickly resume games.

The update, code-named “Yukimura,” will allow users to quickly hop in and out of games by using the PS button. It will also quickly boot up games when the PS4 is in Rest Mode. John Koller, Sony’s vice president of platforms marketing, notes not every game is fully compatible with the suspend/resume feature.

Users will also be able to back up and restore content on the console’s hard drive with a USB drive. New social tools will also be include to streamline the process of finding friends and organizing parties.

Other notable features available with the update: Automatic installation of future software updates, support for games running at 60 frames-per-second through Share Play and Remote Play, Verified accounts and automatic screenshots whenever players earn a trophy.

Updates to both the PlayStation app and PlayStation Vita handheld will roll out starting tonight in preparation for the PS4 update.
