JOHANNESBURG: South Africa‘s trade balance swung into a wide deficit of 24.22 billion rand ($2.1 billion) in January from a revised 6.67 billion rand surplus in December, after exports fell sharply, data from the revenue agency showed.
Exports slumped 23.1 percent to 67.08 billion rand, while imports were up 13.3 percent to 91.3 billion rand on a month-on-month basis, the South African Revenue Service said.
