CAPE TOWN: The total number of civil summonses issued for debt decreased by 5.5% in the three months ended May 2015 compared with the three months ended May 2014.
A year-on-year decrease of 11% was recorded between May 2014 and May 2015, Stats SA data showed on Thursday. The total number of civil judgments recorded for debt decreased by 4.1% in the three months ended May 2015 compared with the three months ended May 2014. A decrease of 7.2% was recorded between May 2014 and May 2015.
The total value of civil judgments recorded for debt was 9% higher in the three months ended May 2015 compared with the three months ended May 2014. A year-on-year increase of 5.3% was recorded in May 2015.In May 2015, 24,448 civil judgments for debt amounting to R362.9m were recorded.
