CHARLESTON: The South Carolina Ports Authority is moving its headquarters after being located for decades on the waterfront in downtown Charleston.
The authority board on Wednesday authorized the sale of the agency’s existing headquarters on the Cooper River in the city’s historic district.
Ports Authority president and CEO Jim Newsome says the agency plans to move its administrative offices to one of the agency’s port terminals to be closer to port operations. Already some of the senior staff is working from offices at the Wando-Welch Terminal in Mount Pleasant.
