SEOUL :South Korean stocks traded 0.19 percent higher late Tuesday morning on the back of gains in autos and utility firms, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed 3.97 points to 2,064.46 as of 11:30 a.m.
Industry leader Hyundai Motor gained 1.12 percent, and auto parts maker Hyundai Mobis climbed 0.24 percent.
Utility firms were also in positive terrain, as Korea Electric Power Corp. jumped 2.34 percent.
Tech behemoth Samsung Electronics, however, slipped 0.55 percent.
The local currency was changing hands at 1,118.55 won against the greenback as of 11:30 a.m., up 6.75 won from Monday’s close.
