SEOUL: South Korean stocks closed 0.65 percent lower Friday, as institutions sold off shares following a rate freeze by the central bank, analysts said. The local currency rose against the U.S. dollar.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 13.83 points to finish at 2,106.50. Trading volume was moderate at 482.1 million shares worth 6.04 trillion won (US$5.56 billion) with decliners outpacing gainers 473 to 333.
