SEOUL: South Korean stocks ended 0.78 percent lower on Thursday as investors stepped to the sidelines to lock in part of recent gains, analysts said. The local currency gained against the U.S. dollar.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) tumbled 16.73 points to 2,122.81, snapping its three-day winning streak. Trading volume was moderate at 388 million shares worth 5.6 trillion won (US$5.1 billion), with decliners outnumbering gainers 488 to 333.
