South korean stocks slip 0.17% at noon, KOSPI sinks 3.56pts

SOEUL: South Korean stocks traded 0.17 percent lower late Thursday morning due to prolonged concern over the Greece debt issue, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 3.56 points to 2,081.97 as of 11:20 a.m.

Tech shares continued to trade lower, with Samsung Electronics moving down 1.23 percent and SK hynix losing 0.58 percent. Samsung SDI shed 2.09 percent.

Carmakers also trade lower with No. 1 Hyundai Motor falling 0.38 percent and auto parts maker Hyundai Mobis losing 1.43 percent. Kia Motors shed 1.4 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,111.45 won to the U.S. dollar, down 3.05 won from Wednesday’s close.
