SEOUL: South Korean stocks began higher Tuesday on the back of gains made in tech and auto firms, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) moved up 11.03 points, or 0.55 percent, to 2,014.2 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Techs led the market gain, with handset giant Samsung Electronics climbing 0.88 percent and flat screen manufacturer LG Display stepping up 1.1 percent. Top chipmaker SK hynix added 0.55 percent…………
Autos also started off bullish, with industry leader Hyundai Motor pushing up 0.36 percent and its sister affiliate Kia Motors jumping 1.55 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,156.40 won against the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m., up 6.80 won from Monday’s close.
