SEOUL: South Korean stocks traded 0.36 percent lower late Thursday morning on losses from techs and mobile carries, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 7.24 points to 2,022.52 as of 11:20 a.m.
Tech shares traded bearish, with Samsung Electronics falling 3.45 percent and No. 2 chipmaker SK hynix moving down 1.34 percent. LG Electronics lost 0.12 percent.
Mobile carriers also traded lower, with SK Telecom decreasing 2 percent and KT edging down 0.65 percent. No. 3 LG Uplus surrendered 2.04 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,171.95 won to the U.S. dollar, up 1.65 won from Wednesday’s close.
