SEOUL: South Korean stocks traded 0.38 percent higher late Tuesday morning on the back of gains in technology and retail shares, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 7.54 points to 2,016.03 as of 11:20 a.m.
Tech shares traded higher, with Samsung Electronics increasing 0.17 percent and SK hynix adding 3.06 percent. LG Electronics climbed 1.22 percent.
Retail shares also gained ground, with Lotte Shopping moving up 2.46 percent and E-Mart advancing 1.88 percent. Samsung C&T, a construction and trade arm of Samsung Group, edged up 0.18 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,169.50 won to the U.S. dollar, down 3.60 won from Monday’s close.
