SEOUL: South Korean stocks traded higher late Monday morning on the back of gains in technology and construction shares.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 14.39 points to 2,004.25 as of 11:20 a.m.
Samsung Group’s affiliates rose sharply with market behemoth Samsung Electronics adding 1.09 percent, and Samsung SDI climbing 1.2 percent. Samsung Electro-Mechanics advanced 2.15 percent.
Builders also continued to trade higher, with Hyundai Engineering & Construction rising 0.46 percent and Daelim Industrial moving up 0.27 percent.
The local currency was changing hands at 1,158.45 as of 11:20 a.m., down 4.15 won against the greenback from Friday’s close.
