MADRID: Spain’s consumer prices fell by 0.4 percent in August when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to advanced data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published here the other day by Spain’s statistical office (INE).
The INE reported that prices fell especially due to lower prices of electricity and gasoline. According to data, Spanish consumer prices had been rising for two consecutive months after 11 months of falls.
The INE also reported that consumer prices fell by 0.3 percent from July to August due also to the lower prices of gasoline that have fallen by 1.6 percent this week.
This data will be confirmed on Sept. 11 when the INE will provide a more detailed explanation of the evolution of prices.
