ISLAMABAD: Spanish Ambassador in Pakistan Javier Carbajosa Sanchez has stated that his country wants to enhance bilateral trade and investment relations with Pakistan. He expressed his views during meeting with Minister of State and Board of Investment (BoI) Chairman Dr Miftah Ismail.
The Spanish envoy met with Minister to discuss and explore the investment and trade opportunities available in Pakistan. BoI Secretary Iftikhar Babar was also present in the meeting. Showing interest particularly in Pakistan’s wind, solar energy and tourism sectors, the ambassador said Spanish investors in Pakistan were interested to import high level sophisticated machinery and equipment for textile sector.
He said that the government of Spain would settle the issues of bilateral investment treaties and memoranda of understanding with Pakistan. The BoI chairman said that the Spanish companies might explore the possibility of establishing Spanish specific special economic zone in Pakistan. Dr Miftah said being the apex state agency for investment promotion and providing facilitation to foreign investors, the BoI might extend cordial invitation to Spanish businessmen and entrepreneurs to visit Pakistan and explore investment opportunities available in all sectors and assure them full support. The BoI Secretary requested the ambassador to arrange the visit of a Spanish business delegation to Pakistan.
