MADRID: Spain’s trade deficit fell 15.7 per cent in October from a year earlier to 1.9 billion euros ($2.1 billion), the economy ministry said on Monday, as a drop in imports outstripped a slip in exports.
Imports fell 2.2 per cent in October to 24.1 billion euros while exports slipped by 0.8 per cent to 22.2 billion euros, the ministry said.
In the first 10 months of the year, the deficit shrank 2.7 per cent to 20.5 billion euros as exports grew 3.8 per cent to a record high for that period of 208.4 billion euros while imports rose 3.2 per cent to 229.0 billion euros.
