MADRID: Spain’s trade deficit rose 39.2 percent January to November from a year earlier as imports, lifted by rising domestic demand and imported energy products, outstripped exports, the Economy Ministry said on Friday.
The trade deficit in the first eleven months of the year was 22.7 billion euros ($27.9 billion) as exports rose 9.1 percent to a record 255.2 billion euros and imports were up 11.1 percent to 277.8 billion euros, also a record for that 11-month period. In November, the deficit rose 30.1 percent from a year earlier to 1.6 billion euros as exports rose 7.9 percent to 25.4 billion euros while imports rose 9 percent to 27.0 billion euros, the ministry said.
