MADRID: The registered people figures of unemployed in Spain fell by almost 119,000 during April to 4.33 million, but despite more employment being created in the services sector during the Easter holidays the region of Valencia failed to match the 2.67% improvement.
Nevertheless, the figure of 502,532 in the Comunidad Valenciana is 8,084 down on the total for March, marking a reduction of 1.58% during April, and over the last twelve months the number has come down by 8.01%, a greater improvement than the 7.5% reported nationwide in the latest figures published by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security.
During April there were improvements in all sectors of Valencia’s economy, with the most significant being in construction (1,495 fewer out of work) and services (5,274). Similarly, the figure improved in all three of the provinces in the Comunidad Valenciana: Alicante led the way with a reduction of 1.91%, followed by Castellón (1.53%) and Valencia (1.34%).
