LAHORE: Lahore police have removed 13 fund collection boxes of different banned outfits from the shops and shopping malls during a special crackdown launched in the Civil Lines police division on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said that the operation was launched on the directives of DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf to remove the charity boxes fixed or placed on the streets, inside the shopping centers, and on the leading roads. The police carried out operation on the Mall Road and removed 13 charity boxes.
There were different names of banned organisations written on the boxes. This operation is being carried out across the provincial metropolis.
Haider Ashraf, while talking to reporters, said that police were going to launch a grand operation to remove all these fund collection boxes of different banned organisations in the whole city. “Police are given clear-cut instructions for the complete removal of these fund collection boxes,” he added.
He further said that these fund collection boxes could be used in any terrorism activity.
