Special customs court gives 14-day remand of GMSA owner on charge of Rs 439.638m tax evasion

LAHORE: Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Lahore granted 14 days judicial remand of Director GMSA Faisalabad in tax evasion case. GMSA is tax defaulter of Rs 439.638 million.

Muhammad Akram son of Ghulam Muhammad, manufacturer and supplier of GMSA is involved in mega tax evasion scandal. Federal Board of Revenue Intelligence found various accounts of GMSA with transaction amount worth Rs 2.836 billion. Company was selling all of its products without sales tax invoices which was detected by inland revenue Faisalabad. The case was registered against Muhammad Akram in mid of January. He violated section 3, 6, 11, 14, 22, 23, 26 and section 73 of Sales tax Act 2011. He had various fake accounts in different banks.
