SPI inflation up 0.29% to 214.18pts

ISLAMABAD: The inflation measured by Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended September 3 for the combined income group surged by 0.29 percent to 214.18 points as compared to the previous week’s 213.57 points.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the SPI for the combined group in corresponding week decreased by 0.82 percent as compared to the corresponding week of last year. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 was also increased by 0.25 percent as it went up from 204.82 points in the previous week to 205.33 points in the week under review.

As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001-12,000, Rs 12,001-18,000 and 18,001-35,000 increased by 0.22 percent, 0.15 percent, 0.46 percent and 0.35 percent respectively.
