SPI weekly inflation down by 0.21% for combined group, 0.18% for Rs8,000 income group

ISLAMABAD: Sensitive Price Index (SPI) weekly inflation for combined income group has declined by 0.21 per cent for the week ending January 22 as compared to the previous week

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data, SPI monitors prices of 53 items based on the survey of markets in 17 cities.

The impact of prices on various income groups also witnessed variations during the week under review.

For the lowest income group earning up to Rs8,000, the SPI decreased by 0.18pc over the previous week, while inflation for the top income group (Rs35,000 and above) was down by 0.22pc.

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 0.28pc.

The items which recorded increase in their average prices included garlic, bananas, onion, moong (pulse), gram (pulse), mash (pulse), masoor (pulse), gur, rice IRRI-6, eggs and mutton.
