ISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation measured through Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended August 13 for the combined income group has decreased by 0.48% to 214.46 points against 215.49 points registered in the previous week.
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the SPI for the combined group in the week under review decreased by 0.27% as compared to the corresponding week of last year. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-2008=100, covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8,000 was also decreased by 0.4% as it went down from 206.62 points in the previous week to 205.79 points in the week under review.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs8,001-12,000, Rs12,001-18,000, Rs18,001-35,000 and above Rs35000 decreased by 0.44%, 0.47%, 0.49% and 0.5% respectively.
During the week under review, average prices of 12 items registered decrease, while that of 9 items increase with the remaining 32 items’ prices unchanged. The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included tomatoes, chicken farm, bananas, eggs, potatoes, LPG cylinder, onions, potatoes, pulse moong, wheat, vegetable ghee (loose), wheat flour and pulse mash. The items which recorded increase in their average prices included tea, garlic, gur, sugar, mutton, red chilly powder, pulse masoor, beef and pulse gram.
