But perhaps that will change soon.

Square Enix recently launched a teaser website for game tentatively called “Project Code Z.” As for what the game might be about, fans speculate that Square Enix will be offering their own take on zombies. This is based on the official “Project Code Z” twitter that has been teasing information about the game since earlier today.

The fans on Gematsu definitely believe that the game’s signature letter ‘Z’ stands for zombies:

“If you look at the rest of their tweets, it says something about Zombies. So, it looks like a new IP for a zombie game,” explained Thabass.

“I’m calling Zombie dinosaurs,” stated Nhiroz.

Although the tweets on the official “Project Code Z” twitter are in Japanese, the latest tweet in English suggests a “cold mind” which could potentially mean zombie. Nevertheless, nothing is for certain of course until Square Enix offers up more information.

According to Anime News Network, Square Enix Games will reveal “Project Code Z” at Tokaigi, Dwango’s annual game event. This year’s event takes place from Jan. 31 to Feb 1. For those gamers outside of Japan, Niconico will livestream the announcements on its website.

Square Enix describes its company as follows on the official LTD website:

“The Square Enix Group boasts a valuable portfolio of intellectual property including: FINAL FANTASY®, which has sold over 92 million units worldwide, DRAGON QUEST® which has sold over 53 million units worldwide and TOMB RAIDER® which has sold over 35 million units worldwide, together with other well established products such as: DEUS EX, HITMAN, KANE & LYNCH, KINGDOM HEARTS, STAR OCEAN, and SPACE INVADERS. The Square Enix Group continues to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation by providing high-quality entertainment content, services and products.”
