COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have seized foreign currency worth over Rs. 6.5 Million here the other day.
The currency had been seized from a 35 year old resident of Colombo while he was about to board a plane to Singapore.
A customs department spokesman said that the man had in his possession 29,000 USD, 7,850 Euros, 32,500 Saudi Riyal, 4,500 Saudi Dinar and 1,750 Canadian dollars.
The man had concealed the foreign currency at the bottom of his bag. Further investigations are underway.
