COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake have arrested a Sri Lankan who man was attempting to smuggle in gold worth over Rs 3.8 million.
Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said the 33-year-old suspect, a resident of Colombo, was arrested upon arrival from Dubai this morning.
According to the spokesman, the suspect had 3 unfinished gold chains weighing around 700g and worth approximately Rs 3,848,130 in the market concealed inside his luggage.
Sri Lanka Customs is conducting further investigations.
