COLOMBO: Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) arrested a woman as she attempted to smuggle jewelry to India.
A customs spokesman said that the Sri Lankan woman from Batticaloa was about to board a Srilankan airlines flight to Mumbai when she was arrested.
The woman had in her possession 654 grams of unfinished jewelry and 349 grams of finished jewelry, all valued at over Rs. 5 million.
The 21 year old suspect has been detained for further investigations.
