COLOMBO: P S M Charles, a special grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service has been appointed the director general of customs, by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera. She was government agent Batticaloa, the finance ministry said in a statement. It has been a practice to appoint senior administrative officer, who had not been customs officers as the customs director general. Charles is a Graduate of the University of Jaffna and has also obtained two Masters Degrees from the Universities of Peradeniya and Rajarata in Disaster Management and Business Administration. Current customs chief W.A. Choolananda Perera will be appointed as Additional Secretary to Ministry of Public Administration & Management.
