Sri Lanka Navy arrests two with Rs. 40 million worth gold biscuits

Colombo:Sri Lanka Navy personnel attached to the Vijaya Navy Camp in Kalpitiya have arrested two persons smuggling Rs. 40 million worth gold biscuits at the Uchchamune coast.

The Navy officers arrested the two suspects and seized the gold stock last night (24) after raiding a suspicious fishing boat at Uchchamune coastal area in Kalpitiya.

During the search of the boat, the stock of gold biscuits was found securely packed in bags.

The two fishermen bringing the gold stock are aged 21 and 29 and are residents of Manthottam and Mohadiya Puram villages in Kalpitiya.

The suspects were to be handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for further investigations. The gold biscuits were handed over to the Mundalama, Sinnapaduwa office of the Sri Lanka Customs and it was to be taken to the main Customs office.
