COLOMBO: Sri Lankan authorities seized nearly 60, 000 bottles of illegal liquor when the stock was being transported in four trucks without a license.
The Organized Crime and Anti vice Division in a special operation conducted on Baseline road, Orugodawattha junction and Samantha junction near the Lunawa temple seized the massive stock of liquor.
The police arrested 8 suspects, who were transporting the liquor manufactured by Wayamba Distilleries. Three of the suspects are residents of the Dematagoda area.
The excise officials will take the custody of the liquor stock, the police said.
