Sri Lankan Customs arrests Bangladeshi for smuggling gold worth Rs. 5.7m

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Customs officials have arrested a Bangladeshi national, who attempted to smuggle 11 pieces of gold out of the country.The Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport acting on a tip Tuesday arrested the 42-year-old man with over one kilogram of gold.

The officials found 11 pieces of gold concealed in his baggage and some more concealed in his shoes. The gold seized weighed 1150 grams and worth Rs. 5.7 million, officials said.
