KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a public holiday on December 25 across the country on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birth anniversary and Christmas, issuing a formal notification in this regard.

According to the notification, the State Bank, commercial banks, development finance institutions, microfinance banks and all other financial institutions will suspend normal operations on the day. As a result, branch-based banking transactions will remain unavailable nationwide, while clearing and settlement services will also be halted.

The SBP said that ATM services will continue to operate as usual during the holiday.

However, it cautioned that temporary service disruptions may occur at some locations due to technical or operational reasons. Online banking, mobile applications and other digital payment channels will remain available in line with individual banks’ policies.

The central bank advised customers to plan ahead to avoid any last-minute inconvenience, as banking operations will resume on the next working day.
