ISLAMABAD: The country’s biggest insurance company, State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC), has been selected to carry out Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance Programme.
The company was selected through an open and transparent bidding process and will implement the Prime Minister’s insurance programme in coordination with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination.
About 3.1 million poorest of the poor families of 23 districts will benefit from this programme and will be provided access to free health care services under the programme in the first phase.
Minister of State, National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Siara Afzal Tarrar and Minister of State/Chairman, Privatisation Commission of Pakistan, Mohammad Zubair jointly chaired a “Proposal Evaluation Meeting” of Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance Programme.
The meeting was convened to evaluate the proposals submitted by 3 short-listed insurance companies, State Life Corporation of Pakistan, Jubilee General Insurance and Adamjee/Alfalah (Consortium), to Ministry of NHSRC for Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance Programme. These companies were short-listed in December 2014 as a result of nationwide publicised “Expression of Interest (EOI)” by the ministry.
