Staten Island business owners, home owners, contractors, engineers, architects, interior designers, landscapers and craftsman who have completed work in the past two years are encouraged to submit applications.

New residential and commercial structures, as well as renovation projects are eligible.

There are four classes of entries including residential, commercial, historic restoration, and Sandy restoration.

The categories include interior, exterior, craftsmanship, natural beauty, interior decorating, green building, outdoor space design, and art.

A team of judges rate the projects submitted and determine if they will receive an Achievement, Excellence or the most honored Chairman’s Award. A video presentation of award recipients will be featured on Time Warner Cable.

Judging will be held on Oct. 9, and the 54th Building Awards Luncheon will be held on Dec. 4, where entries will be awarded.

Chairing this year’s program is Claire Bisignano Chesnoff, Broker/Owner, of Claire Properties, and Alfred V. Saulo, of Alfred V. Saulo Architects, P.C.

The Building Awards Program is sponsored by National Grid and TD Bank.

The award program was established in 1961 by architect Albert Melniker, who died in 2002.
