Steps for agriculture improvement hailed

LAHORE: The Punjab government’s steps for strengthening the agriculture sector were reflective of the PML-N sincere efforts to put the country on the road to progress.

This was stated by progressive farmer from Okara Hameed Sultan while talking to APP on Saturday. He said the agriculture sector was a backbone of national economy and the sector just needed proper attention after which it could bring revolution.

He said allocation of amount Rs 52 billion for Chief Minister’s Rural Roads Programme, Rs 4.58 billion for Punjab Irrigated Agricultural Productivity and Rs 5 billion for agri tractors under which 25,000 tractors to small farmers/growers would be provided on subsidized price on merit and in transparent manner.

He said construction and repair of rural roads would not only ease lives of farmers but also well for people living in these areas.

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) commenting on Budget 2015-16 urged the government to provide interest free loans to farmers.
