Stolen NATO goods in Afghanistan carry blame for Pakistan

PESHAWAR: The missing equipments in NATO containers coming from Afghanistan through Pak-Afghan Torkham Highway causing mistrust and earning bad name to Pakistan as some time containers are looted inside Afghanistan while vacant boxes are scanned at Jamrod Station in Khyber Agency.

According to sources, goods from the NATO containers are sometime stolen inside Afghanistan. However, passing through Pakistan, the record shows that the NATO containers are carrying valuables. These containers are scanned at Jamrod as physical examination of the containers is not possible at a large scale. Sources said that when these containers reach Karachi Dry Port, the goods are physically examined and officials find difference in the list of equipments sent from Afghanistan and their physical inventory in the Karachi port.

The Directorate of Afghan Transit Trade has take up this issue with US government and NATO forces and after physical examination of each item in Karachi Dry Port, the thieves have been arrested.

The Directorate General of Afghan Transit Trade has registered FIR 3/2015 TG regarding stealing of NATO generators worth of three million dollar and the concern and several suspected persons have been arrested.

The missing of equipments may be a conspiracy against Pakistan to defame it in the international level as NATO official and Afghan contractors not contacting Pakistan authorities regarding this theft and it seems that some containers are being looted inside Afghan soil while levelling allegation on Pakistan.
