PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Customs has chalked a comprehensive plane to thwart the smuggling attempts of non-custom paid vehicles, auto parts and other related goods through Pak-Afghan porous border.
A high level meeting under the chairmanship of Collector Qurban Ali was held in Custom Collectorate Peshawar which was attended by additional collector, deputy collector Abbotabad, deputy collector headquarters, assistant collector north and assistant collected Kohat.
Expressing concern over growing smuggling through Pak-Afghan border, Collector Qurban Ali said that smuggling activities are causing huge losses to the national exchequer. He said that additional contingent of police, customs intelligence squad, FIA, Anti Narcotics, frontier corpse, frontier constabulary would be deployed to assist the Customs Department.
He also discussed matters relating to smuggling of non custom paid vehicle to Malakand division and directed the political administration to take stringent measures for foiling smuggling of non custom paid vehicle to Malakand division.
It is pertinent to mention that for the first time in the history, collector Peshawar has directed strict measures to thwart smuggling activities on Pak-Afghan border especially Tirah valley where smugglers are bringing illegal goods on horse and donkey via intricate routs.
