Strict vigilance ordered to stop smuggling of firecrackers

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has directed the authorities to beef up security and surveillance at all the check post to apprehend smugglers.

According to the sources, Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has issued a special directives to the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Enforcement for beefing up the surveillance and strict checking of every consignment to avoid smuggling of contraband items, including high speed diesel and firecrackers.

The demand of firecrackers increases on Shab-e-Barat as compared to other days of the year and many importers import banned items along with other goods.

Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has also directed the to keep an eagle eye on the Green and Yellow Channels under which Goods Declarations (GDs) in case of banned, high-risk or sensitive items along with those where valuation rulings are not applied is processed, the source informed.

On the directive of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) both Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) as well as Enforcement has spread the blanket of informers whereas concern police station have also been taken in the syndicate to apprehend such culprits involved in smuggling of firecrackers and other contraband items.
