BUDAPEST: Approximately 40% of Hungarians seek out online travel offers, while 63% do their research online regarding their travel plans, Hungarian economic daily Világgazdaság reported today citing a joint study by researcher GfK and online payment system PayPal.
Findings from the study suggest that the internet is becoming the most widely used source for planning oneʼs holiday, as only 12.5% of Hungarians look for offers through travel agencies and 15% search for detailed information via agencies, by phone call or in person.
The study finds that approximately 15% of Hungarians find the internet indispensable for planning their holidays and 8% consider it a priority to have an internet connection while traveling.
When choosing accommodation, 62% of Hungarians consider the price a chief consideration, while the second most important factor is the opinions of friends and online reviews influence 32% of respondents.
