KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday granted a four-day protective bail to an accountant of the private firm booked for his alleged involvement in importing the consignments of gold and jewelry against fake E-Form.
A single bench comprising Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto approved the bail for Syed Tahir Hussain Jafri in sum of Rs 100000. While suspending the operation of non bailable warrants issued for arrest of the applicant, the court directed him to join the proceedings.
Advocate Umer Awan, the counsel for the applicant stated that the accused, who is working for the M/S Saani Impex, was unaware of the registration of the FIR against him and subsequent submission of challan in the Custom and Taxation Court. He said his client was ready to surrender before the Court concerned and face the charges. He, therefore, requested the Court to grant protective bail to enable the applicant to appear before relevant the Court.
The custom officials alleged that the M/S Saani Impex had imported the consignment of jewelry and gold and subsequent clearance against fake and forged Form-E in order to avoid realization of foreign remittances in Pakistan which constitute an offence under the customs laws.
It was stated that the bank concerned had also confirmed the Form-E was fabricated.
