Sukkur-Larkana customs impounds smuggled goods worth Rs404500

HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive Sukkur-Larkana, has confiscated 15 smuggled cartons of main switch auto breakers made in Korea, four cartons of MECLS push breakers and push breakers valued Rs404500 involving duties and taxes of Rs227531 during an action at Jacobabad checkpost of Larkana-Sukkur division.

Following the instruction of Hyderabad Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed Khan, the ASO team conducted various anti-smuggling activities. Collector Agha Shahid received a tip-off through Model Customs Collectorate regarding the smuggling, so a team was constituted under the supervision of Additional Collector Rehmatula Vistro to check the smuggling. The team intercepted a public transport vehicle going to Sukkur from Quetta. The team, searching the vehicle, recovered said smuggled items.

Prior to the recovery of the smuggled items, the ASO team asked the driver to produce legal documents of the import but he failed to prove the legality of the goods. A case has been registered against the accused under the customs bylaws.

After making a seizure report, the ASO team deposited the goods into Sukkur State Warehouse.

The raiding team comprised Superintendent Ghulam Shabbir Phuputo, Inspectors Nasrullah Jilal, Ayaz Ali Shah, Abdul Wahab Sheikh, Muhammad Jurial Abbasi, Agha Nazir Ahmed, Sepoys Shabbir Ahmed Thebo, Iqbal Sheikh, Hawaldar Mehram Ali, Driver Manzoor Shori and other staff.
