Zahid Khokhar’s appointment brought positive changes in Pakistan Customs: FBR Chairman

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Dr. Muhammad Irshad has assured the superintendents to promote them in next grade on the basis of merit and performance.

He was addressing the gathering of recently promoted customs officers from the post of deputy superintendents to superintendents.

The chairman said the problems of lower staff will be resolved on priority basis. FBR is a tax collecting authority, revenue collection with honesty is our job and we should give priority to our primary duties, I don’t believe on bureaucratic attitude, we are a family and I feel honor to be the head of this family.

Chairman FBR said that after the promotion of these officers, their responsibilities have been increased. “There were no seats available for promotions of customs officers in Pakistan Customs Services, but I took the seats from Inland Revenue Service and promoted them,” he said.

He pointed out that the posting of new Member Customs Zahid Khokhar has brought positive changes in Pakistan Customs Service.

Addressing the participants, Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib said that Chairman FBR has always supported and appreciated us. “Tax collection is our primary responsibility and it is our commitment that we will meet the revenue targets. All the customs officers always perform well and their cooperation and contribution for the institution is exemplary.”

Collector Customs Dr. Arslan Subuctageen said the department will not only achieve the target but also surpass it. “We are grateful to the Chairman for bringing 38 customs officers back to Islamabad and for taking all the initiatives for service. I assured the Chairman that all the customs officers will put their full efforts to achieve the targets and support the Chairman”.

Superintendent Jamil Shah said, “We are really grateful to Chairman FBR Dr Muhammad Irshad, Member Customs Zahid Khokhar and Chief Management Customs Junaid Jalil for resolving our long standing issue of promotions. We assure that we will work hard for achieving the revenue targets and try to give our best input. Customs has played a very important role to control and halt the illegal trade and we are satisfied with our role. He requested the FBR Chairman that superintendents should be promoted in next Grade accordingly on 25 percent quota because they are working in Grade 16 from last 32 years.
