ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday appointed Syed Ali Zafar, President Supreme Court Bar Association as amicus curiae in the tax immunity case and adjourned hearing of the case for two weeks.
The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case regarding tax immunity.
Justice Saqib Nisar asked the counsel for the petitioner to inform the court about role of the federal cabinet in issuance of the government notification.
Advocate Shafqat Chohan told the court that the federal government comes under article 19 of the constitution after the passage of 18 constitutional amendment. He said that the government notification had no legal jurisdiction if the federal cabinet did not approve it.
