ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has directed the Sindh High Court (SHC) to decide a petition filed by Ayyan Ali on October 3, in which she sought removal her name from the exit control list.
A three-member division bench of the Supreme Court heard the petition under the supervision of Chief Justice of Pakistan which sought removal of Ayyan’s name from the ECL.
During the hearing, her counsel, Lateef Khosa, asked if there was an effective judicial system in the country or not as his client’s name was added and removed from the ECL several times at expense of her business commitments and outstanding dealings abroad.
Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali hoped that SHC would give a verdict in the case after hearing arguments on October 3.
Ayyan was arrested at Benazir International Airport in March last year for attempting to smuggle $503,800 in a bag that she carried to board a flight of a private airline to the United Arab Emirates.
