ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered Federal Board of Revenue to submit the report regarding the use of non-duty paid smuggled vehicles used by government officials.
A three-member bench comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan and headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, has issued the order during the hearing of suo moto case regarding the use of non-duty paid vehicles in use of government officials.
The bench ordered Federal Board of Revenue and all of its departments, including customs Collectorates, Regional & Corporate Tax Offices and Large Taxpayers Unit, Inland Revenue Services (IRS) to submit the report on 3rd of every month regarding use of vehicles vehicles including fuel consumption and cost of repair and maintenance charges.
It is important to mention here that Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took the suo moto notice on the news of illegal use of government vehicles. It had also brought in the notice of Supreme Court that FBR officials using luxury cars which they are not entitled to use these vehicles.
Supreme Court has order FBR to include those cars also which are provide to them from cabinet division. Sources said that high officials of FBR headquarter and its departments i.e. Pakistan Customs and Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation may be summoned in Supreme Court to explain the use of luxury and detained smuggled vehicles.
