T20 cricket increased Sialkot-made sports goods’ export: SCCI

SIALKOT: The ongoing ICC T20 cricket world cup 2016 has boomed up the local sales of the Sialkot-made sports goods, besides, increasing the exports orders being placed by the foreign buyers to the Sialkot based sports goods exporters as well.

Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Acting President Muhammad Sarfraz Butt has said that the global fever of ICC T-20 Cricket World Cup 2016 has opened the new vistas of business of Sialkot based sports goods manufacturers and exporters to the international trade markets, besides, enabling them to explore and capture these international trade markets by exporting the world class sports goods as well.

He termed it a very good and healthy sign of increasing business and exports of sports goods. He said that the Sialkot was globally famous for producing the world class sports goods.

He revealed that the ICC T-20 Cricket World Cup 2016 has also brought some unique opportunities to increase the Sialkot-made sports goods’ exports from Sialkot Pakistan, undoubtedly.

Muhammad Sarfraz Butt said that there will be visible increase in the exports of sports goods including cricket bats, pads, batting gloves, wicket keeping gloves, Thai pads, helmets and kit bags from Sialkot.

Meanwhile, Prof. Safdar Sandal, a Sialkot based leading sports goods exporter, (former Chairman of Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association-PSGMEA), said Sialkot was globally famous for producing the world class sports goods.

He said that the Sialkot-made sports goods were also getting popularity in World’s non-cricket playing countries, especially Europe’s non-cricket playing countries including Spain, France, Brazil and Belgium.

He said that the Sialkot based sports goods manufacturers and exporters had introduced the specially designed quality cricket bats for the youths and professional cricketers in the world.

Safdar Sandal revealed that the prevailing situation ahead of ICC T-20 Cricket World Cup 2016, will also open the new vistas of business and exports for the Sialkot based sports goods manufacturers and exporters to the European, African and Asian countries, as the cricket was also gaining maximum popularity there.

He hoped the Sialkot exporters would get the export orders in bulk from the foreign buyers ahead of the ICC T-20 Cricket World Cup 2016.

Prof. Safdar Sandal narrated that this welcoming situation would also ensure the easy and hurdle free access of Sialkot based sports goods exporters to the international markets, saying that the Sialkot exporters have a great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets as well.

He stated that the Sialkot-made cricket bats and all cricket gears are being used in this T20 Cricket World Cup 2016 as well.

He added that it has boomed the local sales and in export orders, as well. Most manufactures of cricket accessories in Sialkot are offering their products to the world players for their own publicity and advertisement. They offer also potentials to the players because this in return gives business boost to the companies producing such gear, he added.

In Pakistan too after watching the matches, all grounds in cities and villages get filled up with aspiring young players, who will one day become National players themselves and gain prominence. The economy of the country will grow accordingly, he narrated.
