Tablet sales increasing, PC sales decreasing, Microsoft launches upgraded Surface 3

NEW YORK: The Microsoft Surface 3 is completely different than its predecessors. Say goodbye to RT. It’s more powerful, more full, and more of a laptop replacement than the Surface RT and Surface 2. Windows RT was a failure, we have to admit that right now. I have the first generation of Surface devices, and I still use my RT to this day. But I only use it when I want to show people that a device shouldn’t get that slow in a period of 3 years, even with reboots.

With this new Surface, we see a tablet that has the capabilities of a decent powered laptop that can run simple applications, perform word-processing, and run actual Windows, and it also has that nifty Surface Pen as well. And with Windows 10 on the way, people will obviously get the upgrade for free when it comes out.

The specs are better as well. Of course, you’d expect that out of a tablet that is meant to run full Windows software and register pen input along with a plethora of other tasks that the other low end Surfaces just simply couldn’t do.

Is this the tablet that we have been waiting for Microsoft to pump out for years? Absolutely. It’s actually been quite a while since a lower powered Surface has been released. The Surface 2 was released in October of 2013. That means that we have gone a full year without another Surface option.

Tablet sales are increasing, and PC sales are decreasing. It’s a known fact that’s been floating around since 2012. Microsoft is ready for the change, but it wants people to know that they don’t have to give up on what they love in a PC.

Microsoft’s Surface line of tablets has been the underdog since its debut. But deep down inside the tablet was a vision that Microsoft was unwilling to give up on. With the great success of Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3, the Surface 3 is building off of that success by going after those who cannot afford or do not need a device like the Pro. The market is there, and Microsoft is cracking it open.

It’s taken Microsoft a while to get it right, and that’s probably why they stepped back, and thought about the product that they were trying to create. The idea was there, but the product was not. Now it is. In the form of Surface 3.

You can pre-order it here. I’d do a review, but I don’t have any money…I spent it all on video games and hair products. And I’m not important enough for them to give me a review device.
