Tahira advises GB Collector to formulate proposal for upgrade of port facilities

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Collector North was briefed by the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) administration on development of different projects here at Islamabad. The Collectorate of GB has been closed due to heavy snow since December 2016.
According to Chief Collector North Tahira Sarwat Habib, she had a comprehensive meeting with the administration of GB and talked with them on ongoing projects and newly revised revenue targets, especially under the head of Customs Duty. The meeting was attended by Collector GB, Additional Collector and Assistant Collector.
She told Customs Today that she advised the Collector GB to formulate a proposal for upgrade of port facilities. She asked them to pay full attention to develop traders E-facilitation cell at GB. The Chief Collector said she asked the GB officials to develop a liaison with the PWD regarding the construction of GB Customs House and building the boundary wall of the GB Customs House of which PC-1 has been completed.

She also emphasized to make necessary logistics and trade facilitation works speedy since she had requested the Member IT of the Federal Board of Revenue to approve the fiber optic plan for fulfilling the WeBOK and other online needs as soon as possible.
She stated that she advised the GB administration to do their utmost to meet the revised assigned target by the board for Financial Year 2016-17.
