ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri has shelved his party’s more than two month old sit-in in the federal capital. Traders and businessmen especially in Islamabad have shown contentment on Tahirul Qadri’s decision as business activities in the twin cities would come to touch peak again.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief, Dr. Tahirul Qadri has announced to temporarily suspend the sit-ins in Islamabad in reverence of the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram. He rejected any deal with the government and said that his party will not make any compromise at the blood of martyrs of Model Town.
The PAT chief said the decision to temporarily suspend the sit-in was taken in the wake of the holy month of Muharram. He said PAT would resume the protests after the holy month again as reservations over members comprising Joint Investigation Team (JIT) of the government have not removed yet.
He said that transparent investigation of Model Town tragedy could not be carried out under the incumbent Punjab government and suggested Chief Minister to step down from his position till the investigation was completed.
PAT leader said that now the protests would be demonstrated across the country which he said would be the ‘next stage of revolution’.
Qadri told his supporters that the protests had served its purpose and awakened the nation. He asked his supporters to pack their bags and head towards their homes with the spirit of victory.
However, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would continue his party’s protests and said that it will not come to an end until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns.
