CALIFORNIA: Chamber Executive Director David Moore for years to obtain cash that she then used for her benefit, an attorney for the Chamber alleges in a counterclaim filed afternoon. In July, Kelly sued the Tahlequah Area Chamber of Commerce and Moore, saying she was wrongly fired for reporting Moore’s alleged embezzlement of chamber funds.
Kelly was fired by the Chamber’s board of directors in June 2014 after she had served for 10 years as tourism director. In her petition, Kelly alleges Moore allowed her health insurance to lapse and failed to pay the required withholdings that should have been sent to the IRS and the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
But according to a counterclaim filed by attorney Tim Baker on behalf of the Chamber, between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2014, Moore was “threatened and coerced by [Kelly] to make payments on behalf of [Kelly] and gave [her] cash from the Chamber for her own personal use and benefit or she would tell the board.”
