TAIPEI: Taiwan’s export orders in September likely rose for a 14th straight month, propelled by the launches of new smartphone models and other tech gadgets ahead of the traditional peak year-end shopping season.
Export orders in September were expected to expand 7.1 percent from a year earlier, according to the median forecast of 11 analysts in a Reuters poll. That compared with 7.5 percent growth in August. Taiwan’s export orders are a leading indicator of demand for Asia’s exports and for hi-tech gadgets, and typically lead actual exports by two to three months.
